How to meet Germans in the USA?

I'm learning German and so I think it would be nice to have a few German speaking friends. What do you suggest I do to meet Germans in my town?

Go to meetup.com und put down "German" as topic/interest plus your zipcode.....sometimes you only find German language learners, like yourself, but often you will also find groups of "real" Germans
