USCIS-reaction on Petition overdue-what now?
Hi,
my church has filed the petition for the Adjustment of Status (I360) May 07. USICIS weibsite shows that they are already working on August 07 and I have never received a notice (except for the registration # of course).
I have now filed for an investigation of the whereabouts of my petition.
My visa however expires fairly soon (October of this year).
What to do? I can not extend my visa any more...
Thanks for your help!

Write the office of your Representative to the Congress. Perhaps someone in your church is connected.
This worked for a guy I met (back in VA) to get a mess of lost documents straightened out so he could move forward with becoming a citizen.

Looks like that's about all you can do for now.

A lot of times, those investigations speed the approvals up....I
had them officially investigate during my AOS process (after months of not hearing anything from them), and received the greencard less than two weeks after the start of the investigation.
So good luck, maybe the same will happen to you

Gruss,
CW
did you call the hotline to start the investigation??
and after how many months did you do so????
i received my ead and ap in june, haven´t heard from uscis since then.
it is exactly 3 months now...could i start an investigation!???

visa almost expired...petition still not approved...
Now I have only six more weeks to go and my visa is expiring (at the date of the Presidential elections)....
My congregation..and some local politicians linked to it.. have contacted everyone from the President on down (who-I quote- "sends his greetings"). I have filed for two investigations with USICS ...(and besides assurances from Senators/Congresspeople/govenor etc.)that they work on this only received two letters from USCIS telling me that I will be hearing from them within 45 days...(which are way passed due as well).
Some suggest that my files have gone lost and they don't want to admit it...but I don't know...
Next step will be media--and finally moving company if this does not work I am afraid...watiting period on petition is exactly 16 months...

Yes, I called the hotline, and if I remember correctly, it was exactly "180 days after the last communication from the USCIS". The automated system will only let you talk to a 'real person' if the waiting period has been long enough

I really don't know what to say........even for USCIS standards that is a new low
I'm really sorry that this is happening to you.....I hope they'll approve you before your visa will expire
