Joining the AIR FORCE with GREEN CARD

HI,

I'm married to an US citizen and finally got my green card. I went to the air force recruitment center becasue I wanted to join. They told me that in order to join my green card has to have an expiration date greater than 2years form now-since my green card expires in 2years I'm not eligeble to join. WHAT CAN I DO? IS THERE A WAY TO EXTENT THE EXPIRATION DATE SO I CAN JOIN???

Wenn du länger als 2 Jahre verheiratet bist beantragst du ein removal of condition und du erhälst eine GC die eine Gültigkeit von 10 Jahren aufweisst.
Dann kannst du zur Air Force.

Not the wedding date counts....the wedding date only influences whether you'll get a 2-year or a 10-year Green Card.
For the removal of conditions only the issuing/exp. date on the Green Card counts (apply for removal of conditions 90 days before expiration date on Green Card).

Example: I got married in Feb. 2006 and received my Greencard in Dec. 2006. Thus, my Greencard expires 2 years and 10 months after my marriage, and I can apply for removal of conditions 2 years and 7 months after my wedding.

So, in the original poster's case, if he just now received his greencard, like he wrote, he will be able to apply for removal of conditions in about 1 year and 9 months. Then he will have to wait until he receives his new, 10-year Green card....and then he can apply to join the Air Force
