Where to rent a VW-Bus?
Hi,
my parents want to travel to the eastcoast and they don´t want to stay in a hotel/motel. So I looked for a Van with 2 beds and stove, but I only found this "huge" Vans. Has anybody an idea where it is possible to rent a VW - Bus? The best is when it is in the area Boston / New York.
Thanx Till

Here these vans are called "Camper Vans".
Example: With Google you find pages like this:
http://www.camperusa.com/campervansmhomes.htm
http://www.camperusa.com/b-19.htm
However you will not find the good old VW BUS (called Eurovan in the US). A few years back VW-USA has stopped selling these cars.

Hi,
thanks. this is what I also found. All to big
. I only drive VW-Bus. Just kidding. I think the best is to take the car from my girlfriend parents and find some bed and breakfast places. How much will round about cost a night in a b&b.

For the US these are SMALL RVs. These Dodge Vans, Chevy vans are about the size of a Mercedes Sprinter or VW LT. Anything smaller would be to small for US customers.
Don't worry about the size. You can park a 22' foot camper anywhere. Everything is bigger in the US.
B&B are expensive. Most of them are in old houses with lots of antique furniture. I think you have to expect around $100/night.
And you have to reserve in advance. Most of them can be reserved through specific brokers.
They don't like it if you just show up. It is a lot different from Europe where B&B are bargain places for the night. Here in the US they are more a luxurious accommodations with family atmosphere.
The cheapest way are motels. Depending on the type of motel you can get decent rooms for $40 to $50. Depending on city and comfort.
