    Application for dual citizenship

    Hello everybody,
My name is Tyler and I'm living in L.A.. I'm a German citizen, had my greencard for over four years now and I've been married to an American citizen for 10 years now. I am now able to apply for the American citizenship but before that I have to apply for dual citizenship with the Germans.
I'm about to fill out the application but now I'm concerned if my reasons that I'm going to mention on the form will grant my an approval.
These are the reasons I'm going to mention:

Reasons for keeping the German citizenship:
    -Parents live in Germany.
-Parents in law live in Germany.
    -Future inheritance in Germany.
    -Still have accounts in Germany.

Reasons for getting the American citizenship:
-Plans of building a production company
    -Plans of accquiring real estate
-Plans of having a family (kids)

Are those reasons strong enough? Do I have do prove them and how?
I would very much appreciate if anybody could help me out.
    Thank you, Tyler

I can only tell you about my case, which went through without problem:
    - I do have real estate in Germany, i submitted a copy of the Grundbuchauszuege. How about a Schenkung, you might get around inheritence taxes with that as a nice side effect.
    - I submitted information on bank accounts.
    - I provided evidence that there are professional barriers for me: Copies of job descriptions from my area which require US citizenship in my particular profession, computer science.

I actually submitted my Antrag zur Beibehaltung der deutschen Staatsbuergerschaft at the embassy in D.C. The lady there found real estate and professional reasons to be the most compelling. Of course she made clear that it's not her call but rather the call of the Behoerde back in Germany. I had the decision within 6 months and my N-400 is running.

A friend of mine is going through this as well right now. She could not make a strong enough case and the Behoerde got back to her... she's now scraping together additional things, e.g. that she cannot get registered with the US coast guard as co-owner of her families' boat. We all hope this will get her over the hump.

If not it's not a big deal either to just drop the German citizenship...

What a wonderful answer, VegasGirl-- and so constructive!
Believe it or not but there are people in this world who are fond of their German citizenship and who would like to keep it.

@berlinfool: I wish you the best of luck with your application! I will certainly try to do this as well when my time will come in five years.
    All the best,

Personally, i found it worthwhile to spend the EUR's, time and effort to go through the procedure with the Behoerden. Who know's what it's good for in the future - i still have a few decades to go (hopefully).

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the person working your papers.
But I think you'll need more than that.

Reasons for getting the American citizenship:
-Plans of building a production company
    -Plans of accquiring real estate

Your reasons for the american citizenship aren't the greatest ones either. Building a production company....... don't need citizenship.
real estate ............... don't need citizenship.
    having kids................. don't need citizenship.

Your reasons to keep the german citizenship will have to be proven. You need addresses of your family, proof of the future inheritance (copy of the will, Grundbucheintrag, etc).
